Update: D.C. Streetcar service has resumed after a safety check, but passengers should expect residual delays.
Original: A D.C. streetcar collided with a Metrobus this morning on the H Street Corridor.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson Vito Maggiolo told DCist that it appears one of the cars in the streetcar fleet rear-ended the Metrobus, causing 10 people on the bus to suffer minor injuries. It’s unclear what caused the streetcar to hit the bus.
Fire officials were called to the scene at 11th and H Streets NE around 11 a.m., Maggiolo says. Officials plan to transport the injured riders to an area hospital. Streetcar service is currently suspended.
When a MegaBus hit a streetcar platform in April, it resulted in suspension of service for part of the afternoon, and a longer closure for the affected stop. In February, streetcar service halted for about an hour after someone opened their car door as the trolley came down H Street, damaging both vehicles.
A streetcar collided with another car in September, leaving one person with minor injuries. And before it began serving passengers last February, there was an accident involving an X2 Metrobus and another incident involving a parked police car in 2015.
