D.C. police are searching for a suspect who fatally shot a man on the Anacostia Riverwalk Trial on Wednesday morning.

Police have identified the victim as 37-year-old Victor Williams from Southeast.

Around 8:30 a.m., police received reports for a shooting near the 3300 block of East Capitol Street SE in the River Terrace neighborhood. When they arrived, officials found the man suffering from gun shot wounds to his head with no signs of life.

He was pronounced dead minutes later.

Sources told News 4 that the man was walking his dog, who the gunman also killed. D.C. police spokesperson Rachel Reid said officials can’t confirm those allegations at this time.

Police say the suspect is a black man around 30 years old. He was wearing a black shirt, red baseball cap, and black sweat pants with the bottoms rolled up on both legs. He could be riding a red mountain bicycle.

In March, an elderly man was fatally stabbed on the Anacostia River Trail, about two miles away from Wednesday’s shooting.
