COVID-19 testing will resume at some sites in Montgomery County, Maryland starting Thursday following nearly a week of suspending testing after the county terminated its contract with Rockville-based COVID-19 test provider AdvaGenix, WTOP first reported

Walk-in testing will be available at two locations this week: at the Plum Gar Recreation Center in Germantown on Thursday, Aug. 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at the White Oak Recreation Center on Friday, Aug. 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, according to Montgomery County’s testing website

The test sites will use alternative coronavirus tests provided by the state. No appointments are needed and testing is free.

In a call with reporters, County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles and County Executive Marc Elrich said the county has not seen a “definitive report” outlining the testing issues.
