This story will be updated with new deals and specials

Local officials and businesses are luring people into vaccine booths with the promise of beer and fried food. Well played. Here are some free food and drink specials for newly vaccinated individuals across the region.

D.C.

Visa gift cards

Any D.C. resident 12 and over can receive a free $51 Visa gift card after getting their first dose at the RISE Demonstration Center, Anacostia High School, or Ron Brown High School starting June 19 through July 17.

Residents who get their shot at Anacostia High School on June 19 will also be entered into a raffle to win two roundtrip American Airlines tickets to anywhere the airline flies.

Gift cards to D.C.-area ThinkFoodGroup restaurants

Celebrity chef José Andrés is offering anyone who gets vaccinated after May 7 a $50 gift card to one of his D.C.-area ThinkFoodGroup restaurants (Jaleo DC, Jaleo Crystal City, Oyamel, Zaytinya, Beefsteak, and China Chilcano), redeemable for up to a month. Andrés says the promotion will run until 70% of the population is vaccinated. So far, nearly 38% of D.C. residents have been vaccinated, so there’s plenty of time to redeem this offer.

Want a beer with that shot?

The District is once again partnering with a local brewery to offer free beer with that shot. Anyone who receives the J&J vaccine at Atlas Brew Works at 2052 West Virginia Ave. in Northeast from 4-8 p.m on will receive a free cold one courtesy of Atlas. The city has not commented on whether these will be IPAs.

Free Sam Adams and Budweiser

National chains including Sam Adams and Budweiser are also getting in on the action with #ShotForSam and “A Beer on Bud,” respectively. Mr. Adams is offering the first 10,000 people who share their vaccinated status on social media a free drink through May 15. Budweiser is similarly hosting a giveaway for a chance to win free beer through May 16.

“Vaxed for Mom” and “Vaxed for Dad” temporary tattoos

Anyone who visits one of six walk-up clinics will receive free “Vaxed for Mom” and “Vaxed for Dad” temporary tattoos through the end of the month. On Mother’s Day, the city offered the first 51 people in line at one of six vaccination sites free plants and flowers.

“Before the pandemic, a lot of people got tattoos to show their love for mom and dad,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a promotional video. “Now, the best way to show your love is to get vaccinated.”

Free fries with that burger

The Z-Burger in Tenleytown is offering vaccinated customers free small fries through May 31. The local chain previously distributed thousands of free burgers to workers at Sibley Memorial Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, and Howard University Hospital. Owner Peter Tabibian is also giving 55 employees $100 cash when they get their shot.

“We have already given away 2,120 small fries in the past 2 weeks and I want to do more so now we will give anyone with a vaccine card free fries for all of May too,” Tabibian said in a press release.

Maryland

Need a Lyft?

Ridesharing apps Uber and Lyft are looking to help get more people vaccinated with free rides for some to and from vaccination sites.

Ledo’s Pizza

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says any resident that gets a vaccine in May and June can receive a free 8-inch pizza at any of Ledo’s Pizza’s 72 franchises. Hogan was at a Ledo’s Pizza in Oxon Hill Thursday to make the announcement and, of course, eat some pizza.

“It’s my cheat day,” Hogan said. “I’ve been on this diet for a while and I haven’t eaten any pizza for like eight months. And I love Ledo’s Pizza.”

Vaccinated pizza-lovers can log onto the Ledo’s app or their website to register their information to get the free pizza.

“Any kind of incentive that we can do for people to get out and get their shots it’s going to help us reach that goal so we can all get rid of the masks and get things back to normal,” he said.

CEO of Ledo’s James Beall says he hopes at least 10,000 residents take advantage of the incentive program.

$100 bonus for state employees

It’s not food, but it’ll pay for it. Earlier this month, Hogan offered a $100 bonus for the state’s 100,000 employees who get vaccinated and agreed to get a booster shot in 18 months.

Tickets To Six Flags

Prince George’s County residents 12 years and older who get vaccinated at the county’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover will receive two free tickets to Six Flags America in Bowie, while supplies last. Six Flags America donated 4000 tickets to the county, which recipients can use at the amusement park through Sept. 19. County Executive Angela Alsobrooks says the county continues to try to vaccinate vulnerable populations.

“We hope that offering families a much-needed day of fun and excitement at Six Flags will encourage more of our residents to get vaccinated and be Proud to be Protected against COVID-19,” Alsobrooks said in a press release.

Virginia

Free donuts

Not to leave Virginians out…. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts wants to sweeten the deal with one free glazed doughnut per customer who shows a vaccination card. Krispy Kreme was one of the first national chains to offer free food with proof of vaccination.
