Voting deadlines and other election dates are moving after a recent Court of Appeals decision moved the Maryland primary to July 19.
The deadline to register to vote is now June 28.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is July 12.
Early voting will now begin July 7 and end July 14.
Maryland State Board of Elections Administrator Linda Lamone announced the changes Monday.
“We continue to work with the local boards to review any possible logistical issues resulting from the change to the election calendar, including the availability of early voting centers and election day polling places, recruitment of election judges for early voting and election day, and equipment allocation,” Lamone said.
Marylanders will be voting on who should be the Democratic and Republican nominees for Governor/Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller, U.S. Senator, and Representatives in Congress. Both Prince George’s and Montgomery County residents will vote for nominees for County Executive, County Councilmembers, State’s Attorney, Sheriff, Board of Education, and more.
The Court of Appeals changed the original June 28 date of the primary after a series of challenges to the legislature’s redistricting plan that still need to be resolved.
The general election is slated for Nov. 8.
