A Prince George’s County police officer has been arrested for allegedly threatening someone with a gun outside a Manhattan nightclub on Tuesday. He has been suspended without pay as the department conducts an internal investigation, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Aaron Holliday, 26, has been with the department for four years, and works in the bureau of patrol.
According to a police report of the incident, a 38-year-old man told police he and Holliday were “engaged in a verbal dispute” when Holliday took out a gun and pointed it at him, “causing imminent fear of serious injury or death.”
Holliday, who was off-duty at the time, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon-loaded firearm, reckless endangerment, and menacing, according to the New York City Police Department. There were no injuries during the incident.
Holliday’s attorney wrote in an emailed statement that he pleaded not guilty to the charges and “has faith in the criminal justice system that he will be vindicated.”
He is one of several local police officers who are being investigated for alleged crimes. Earlier this month, a Capitol Police officer was indicted for allegedly crashing his police car into a motorized cyclist, injuring them, and then fleeing the scene and trying to cover up his involvement in the incident. In April, news broke that the vice chair of D.C.’s police union was under investigation for engaging in unwanted sexual contact with a person at a grocery store. And in May, a D.C. police officer was arrested in Prince George’s County on assault and gun charges; according to FOX5, he allegedly pointed a weapon at a security guard in Beltsville.
