It’s another Code Red air quality alert for the D.C. region and with some of the worst air quality in the world right now here’s what’s closing around the region.

D.C. has a Code Red alert for air quality again today and is ranked as the second worst city for air quality in the world right now, according to IQAir. In response, some events, businesses, and activities are closing across the region until things improve.

Wildfire smoke from Canada continues to plague us, although so far, it’s not as intense as the smoke that pushed the region to a Code Purple earlier this month. However, Code Red levels of poor air conditions are enough to cause health effects for members of the general public, and sensitive groups like children, the elderly, or people with chronic conditions such as asthma, heart disease, or other lung conditions.

DC Health and the Department of Energy and Environment recommend avoiding exercise and other strenuous activities outdoors, using an air filter, wearing an N95 or KN95 mask outdoors, and for sensitive groups to stay indoors as much as possible. You should continue to check reports from US Air Quality at airnow.gov, and reach out to a physician if health conditions worsen.

And for closures and modifications, we’ve got a list for you to know what’s on pause in the city and beyond. (This list will be updated as more closures are added)
