The transit agency is hosting a series of pop-up events to get a look and feel of the new materials going into the 8000-series trains.
The trains have been in limited use since a 2021 derailment. Experts say re-pressing the wheels on every 7000-series train is a long-term fix.
“The job is not done. We are 100% committed to getting back to full-budgeted service,” General Manager Randy Clarke said Thursday.
Metro wants to run more cars for 30 days and submit testing data to the Safety Commission weekly to make sure the trains are safe.
