Biddle Staying Out of At-Large Special Election
Former Councilmember Sekou Biddle won’t be trying to get his old job back in the April 23 special election to complete the term vacated by now-Chairman Phil Mendelson.
Sekou Biddle might want his hold job in the John A. Wilson Building back, he tells DCist. Biddle, who served briefly as an At-Large member of the D.C. Council, is thinking seriously about entering the special election next April.
Patrick Mara, a Republican who has run for citywide office multiple times before, is getting into the race for the special election next year for an At-Large D.C. Council seat.
In December the D.C. Democratic Party will select an interim At-Large councilmember to fill the seat vacated by D.C. Council Chair Phil Mendelson.
Vincent Orange won the Democratic primary in last week’s election for his at-large council seat after the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics counted more than 4,000 provisional ballot.

Shapiro the Spoiler? Not So, He Says
Was Peter Shapiro a spoiler for a possible Sekou Biddle defeat of Councilmember Vincent Orange (D-At Large) in yesterday’s D.C. primary? Biddle supporters say yes, while Shapiro adamantly says no.
While most every incumbent for the D.C. Council handily won their primary contests yesterday, the At-Large contest between Councilmember Vincent Orange (D-At Large) and Sekou Biddle remained too close to call.

Sekou Biddle Wins the Fugazi Primary
According to the latest reports from the District’s Office of Campaign Finance, it appears that at-large candidate Sekou Biddle has locked up the post-hardcore vote. Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty gave Biddle $250.
