Last week, beachgoers on the Delaware and Maryland shore were greeted with thousands of dead fish washing up on the beach. This weekend, they’re dealing with tropical storms coming up the coast from Florida. August has been testing the patience of Washingtonians with summer homes on the shore.
In the midst of all the madness, there is a glimmer of hope for Delaware-bound beachgoers. Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich approved the widening of MD Route 404, a crowded highway to the Rehoboth, Dewey and Cape Henlopen beaches.
While that may sound like good news, DCist notes that once you cross the state line, you’re still dealing with a two-lane road through chicken country.
