— Police think an attempted bank heist at the Riggs bank at Wisconsin and M Street in Georgetown is connected with a sucessful one on 12th Street NE. After the Saturday robbery D.C. government officials sent a text alert to people in the Georgetown, Burleith and Hillandale neighborhoods alerting them to the 9 a.m. crime noting “NO ONE WAS INJURED” and offering a vague physical description of the suspect. The alert was sent at 2 p.m., nearly 5 hours after the robbery occurred. It’s not the first time the alert system was a bit slow.

— Three men are being held after a secret service officer caught them shooting guns in the air as they drove down the Rock Creek Parkway.

— An elderly Southeast woman was found dead Saturday in a case police are tentatively treating as a homcide.

— Metro officials are puzzled how an injured man who was found on the tracks on the Green Line near the Columbia Heights station. The man, who spoke only Spanish, had a fractured skull, broken arm, and broken leg, but told police he was not hit by a train.
