You know what? D.C. gets a bum rap sometimes, but there really is a ton of great stuff constantly going on in this town, and not just on the weekends. With that in mind, DCist brings you Out and About: Hump Day — events dedicated to Wednesday, that most humpable day of the week. Check out what’s happening this evening:

  • Former presidential candidate Howard Dean gives a talk and signs his new book, “You Have the Power: How to Take Back Our Country and Restore Democracy in America” tonight at Olsson’s in Bethesda. 6 p.m.

  • The Pope of Mope, as the Post calls him, or the man better known as Morrissey, descends on DAR Constitution Hall tonight. Even better: via Information Leafblower, we see that the Moz, according to tour listings at tinymixtapes.org, might be playing the 9:30 Club on Nov. 13. Unsubstantiated? Yes. But fun to ponder!

  • If Morrissey isn’t your cup of tea, check out the fantastic Supergrass (with Phaser opening) tonight at the 9:30 club. Doors open 7:30 p.m.

  • A few other musical options: the Roy Hargrove Quintent hits Blues Alley tonight through Oct. 3, and Reverend Horton Heat (with the Hackensaw Boys) plays Jaxx Nightclub in Springfield.

  • As always, Galaxy Hut in Arligton hosts its Hump Night, letting regular schmoes DJ from their own collections.

  • Feel like a few belly laughs? Then hit up DC Standup at Jammin’ Java in Vienna. Five local standup commedians, Chris White, Erin Conroy, Larry XL, Frank Hong and Jared Stern, are promoting their latest CD, “DC Standup vs. Earth.”

  • DC Art News alerts us to the fact that tonight, from 5-8 p.m., “Zenith Gallery’s space at 901 E St. NW, showcases The Reflection Series, a recent collection of stunning photo-realistic oil paintings by Washington DC artist Joey Manlapaz. I am familiar with Manlapaz’s works and she has refined her skill to a level where I consider her amongst the best photo-realistic painters that I’ve seen in the last few years and certainly around here.”

And while all of those events sound superfun, DCist has to admit that tonight we’ll probably be sitting on our ass in front of the TV with a bottle of wine (oh! That reminds us: every Wednesday, Best In Liquors on P Street has free wine samplings), enjoying the one-two Wednesday punch of ABC’s “Lost” and UPN’s “America’s Next Top Model.” Ah, television. It brings us such wonders.
