Be aware that on Friday, meetings at the headquarters of the World Bank will cause the closure of streets in the vicinity of the White House and Foggy Bottom.

From the AP, via WJLA/ABC-7:

The traffic troubles begin right smack in the middle of Friday morning’s rush hour. At 8:30 a.m., police will shut 18th, 19th and 20th streets, between Pennsylvania Avenue and F Street. And G Street will close between 17th and 21st.

We figure that the extra security is tied to the World Bank being named a terrorist target earlier this summer, which brought heightened security across the capital. But we’re sure that it is also because of possible protests. But DCist hasn’t heard of much in the protest department. DC Indymedia has only had a few spatterings of chatter about “Critical Mass Friday” but maybe that will change.

This evening, there is a protest organzing meeting at St. Stephens Church at 16th and Newton streets in Mount Pleasant organized by Mobilization for Global Justice.
