Grays Coming Soon? D.C. sports authorities have indicated that Major League Baseball wants a named picked for D.C.’s new baseball team as soon as possible. The AP, via WTOP, says that MLB officials want the name settled so marketing can begin.

Speaking of Baseball, More Stadium Controversy: The District may have underestimated the costs required to renovate RFK Stadium and build a new permanent stadium on South Capitol Street. The Post reports that it may cost $91 million more than previously thought to get baseball set up and ready to go.

Redskins Fans Can Walk: Prince George’s County has reversed course and has ruled that Redskins fans — who were barred from walking to FedEx Field to avoid paying stadium parking — can walk to the stadium, the Post reports.

Cleaning the Bay Costly: Time is ticking to save the Chesapeake Bay and there isn’t enough money available to clean it. The Post reports that $28 billion will be required to take measures to protect the bay, but securing that kind of funding is not looking promising, though a blue ribbon panel suggests finding $15 billion may be doable. From the Post:

The panel suggested creating a financing authority with $12 billion from the federal government and $3 billion from states in the bay’s watershed, money that would be contributed over a six-year period.

Homeless Shuttle Bus: Even though a new report shows that a majority of D.C.’s homeless are in downtown, Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant, the District plans to open up 300 beds in Southeast and will transport the homeless there via shuttle bus if need be when the weather gets cold, the AP via WJLA reports.
