There’s a variety of events this week that might be of interest to DCist readers.

Tomorrow, WMATA will be holding their first-ever “open house” at their downtown headquarters. In light of a number of recent transit snafus, we think this meeting will be well worth attending — if only to see who turns up.

Wednesday is the November Weblogger Meetup scheduled through the Meetup.com service. The group will be meeting at 7 p.m. at the Metro-accessible Dupont Circle bar Buffalo Billiard’s.

On Thursday, the 2004 Progressive Politics and Technology Roundtable is scheduled from 5:30 until 10:30 at the AFL-CIO building downtown. Tickets to the event are $12 in advance and it features as wide variety of panelists, including people from Democrats.com, the Dean campaign, Alternet.org, The Nation, the ACLU, Kintera, and a host of other organizations.

Also on Thursday, Mediabistro is hosting a “Drinks for Media” event at LeftBank. Their parties require an RSVP and are open to “full time media professionals.” Their October event at the same location was somewhat interrupted by a water main break.

All of these events and more are listed on the community-driven events website Upcoming.org.
