DCist noted last week that the Mandarin Oriental is offering a lavish $200,500 package for inauguration week. The Atlanta Journal-Constutition offers a few more details on the offer. Guests signing up for the service will have their choice access to either a Hummer, Rolls Royce, or Maybach for the week, private jet service to D.C. from their home, and an outfit from Neiman Marcus:
[an]Oscar de la Renta evening gown and matching Manolo Blahnik shoes, Judith Leiber handbag, emerald ring and full-length mink coat for the lady, and a Kiton tuxedo, Burberry reversible coat, 18-carat gold Cartier watch and jeweled cuff links for the gentleman.
According to the registration desk at the Mandarin, the offer is still available.
Unlike the Mandarin’s offer, the $1-million package at the Jefferson Hotel has been withdrawn. The Jefferson was offering many of the same amenities as the Mandarin, and also planning to provide matching Rolexes, a diamond jewelry set from Tiffany’s for the lady, and a tour of the Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years exhibit — in Chicago. The deal, open until a few weeks ago, was withdrawn when a prospective guest offered to rent the presidential suite without the bells and whistles.
Many other area hotels are still offering deals for those with deep pockets, including the Ritz-Carlton’s $150,000 package that includes a new Hermes tie and scarf every week until Inauguration 2009. There is no word, however, on the effect the possible hotel strike will have on area hotel’s offers to high rollers.
In other lodging news, most area hostels are booked on the 19th, with some also booked on the 20th. No word on if they plan on distributing cowboy hats to their guests.
