So what are you up to this weekend? Consider these possibilities for your agenda.

FRIDAY:
>> Straight from Jersey, the Wrens play the Black Cat. $10. We interviewed them earlier this week.

>> Tonight at 8:30, the Italian film “The Leopard” opens at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring. The theatre bills Luchino Visconti’s 1963 classic as “one of cinema’s all-time great performances.” You’re probably best to book your tickets ahead of time.

SATURDAY:
>> Want a boatload of land-based boat-related activity? The Washington Boat Show is at the Washington Convention Center.

>> Brooklyn-based Palomar makes their way to the Velvet Lounge. Expect their happy, pop harmonies to spill out onto U Street. The band (at right) will play with D.C. bands Cartel and Outland.

>> If you’re around the corner at DC9, you won’t hear what’s going on at the Velvet Lounge because of the laptop battle happening. Let’s hope this is a clean, entertaining fight, with some good music of course.

>> Back at the Black Cat is Catfish Shack, aka another highly specialized night of niche DJing backstage — featuring jump blues, garage and 50s rock.

>> At the Meyer Auditorium at the Freer and Sackler galleries are a number of demonstrations and performances of Asian stringed instruments. “Strings Across Asia: Traditional Fiddles from China, Mongolia, and the Arab World,” will “[e]xplore the tremendous variety of musical styles that developed for the ancient Asian fiddle as it spread across the continent from the ninth to the thirteenth century,” according to the Smithsonian. Continues Sunday.

SUNDAY:
>> Expect to see dragons (and maybe a rooster?) in Chinatown with the traditional Chinese New Years parade celebrating the new year of the rooster. Festivities start near the corner of H and Sixth streets NW around 2 p.m.

>> It’s the last day to see the American Ballet Theatre’s performance of “Swan Lake” at the Kennedy Center. $29-99.
