FRIDAY:
>> Everybody knows that the only true thing going on tonight is the DCist happy hour! From 5-8 p.m., DCist editors and contributors will be at Biddy Mulligans on Dupont Circle, starting our weekend off with a Guinness or four. Definitely drop on by with some friends for a chat, a rant, or to confirm that we are indeed real, live people as opposed to automated Gothamist bots.

>> Additionally, Hot Hot Heat are also playing the 9:30 Club tonight with Louis XIV and Washington Social Club. Sold out, unfortunately — but there’ll be an afterparty at DC9.

>> The Guerilla Film Fest Club is holding a happy hour at John Harvard’s Brew House and a screening of “Short Cut to Nirvana” at the Landmark E Street Cinema. More information and an RSVP are here.

SATURDAY:
>> The ShamrockFest in Ballston has games, food, 20 bands and lots and lots of beer, all in a six-block radius. 12-9 p.m.

>> If you choose masochism, like we have, come out to the D.C. Saint Patrick’s Day 10K to watch the racers and cheer ’em on. There’ll also be bagpipes, Irish step dancers and a 1K noncompetitive fun run for kiddies.

SUNDAY:
>> The short film “Burn to Shine” featured several D.C. musicians, like Q and Not U, Bob Mould, Ted Leo and Weird War playing in an empty local house that was about to be burned and demolished for a firefighting exercise. Tonight at the Warehouse Theater is the premiere of “Burn to Shine Chicago,” which is the same idea but features artists from Chi-town, like Wilco, The Ponys, and Tortoise. There’ll be two showings at 7 and 9:30 p.m. for $6.

>> TasteDC.com hosts an Introduction to Indian Cooking class at Heritage India on Wisconsin Ave. 2:30 p.m., $63. Call (202) 244-3700 or get more info here.

>> DC9 hosts free beginner swing dance lessons from 8-9 p.m.; afterwards it’s $5 for an evening of swing dance fun, with a DJ and drinks.
