Mayor Williams Releases Budget: Local media this morning all have different takes on Mayor Williams’ budget. The W. Times finds tax cuts but also plans for a new central library as part of a “city center” development at the convention center site. The Post describes an “expansive” budget of new spending and ambitious plans. We’re still thumbing through it here at DCist HQ, looking for the good stuff for our loyal readers.
Government Official Hit and Run: The D.C. Fire Department has put Deputy Chief Beatrice Rudder on administrative leave after she hit a child in a crosswalk last week, and left the scene of the accident before police arrived to investigate.
Toxic Trains Ruling Coming: The W. Times reports a federal judge will rule in the next two weeks on whether D.C. government can restrict trains carrying dangerous chemicals through the District. The judge had to reprimand a CSX lawyer who called D.C. government a “scofflaw.”
