FRIDAY:
>> The Sixpoints Music Festival, which highlights good local music played at good local venues, continues this weekend. Make sure to check out the schedule here and support your local music scene.

>> Ross Douthat, blogger extraordinaire and reporter at The Atlantic Monthly, managed to pull a pretty nifty trick: he attended Harvard, reaped the rewards of the degree, and then got a hefty advance to write “Privilege: Harvard and the Education of the Ruling Class,” a book slagging off on the institution and its blue blood elite. He stops by Politics and Prose at 7 p.m. to discuss the novel.

>> The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society holds a fundraiser tonight with a date auction at T.T. Reynolds in Fairfax. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the auction begins at 11 p.m.; a $5 cover will get you inside, and once there, you can even sign yourself up for the auction if you think you’ve got what it takes to make people spend money to spend time with you.

SATURDAY:
>> American University‘s Reel Journalism Film Festival continues today with a 3:30 showing at the Greenberg Theatre of “Veronica Guerin,” a movie about an Irish journalist killed for investigating the Irish mafia. Post-film, hear what three female investigative journalists have to say about their profession. The full weekend schedule and listings can be found here.

>> Cherry blossom madness continues with the Japanese Street Festival from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., rain or shine. You’ll find everything from Japanese woodworking to traditional Koto music to octopus delicacies. It takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, and 12th Street, NW from Constitution to Pennsylvania Avenues, NW.

>> New York City’s comedy troupe, the Upright Citizens Brigade, comes to D.C. this evening for a night of comedy at Comedy Spot in Ballston Mall. There’ll be two showings, one at 8 p.m. and one at 10:30 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here for $15. Call 703-294-LAFF for more info.

SUNDAY:
>> If you’re up for a little rough-housing, make sure to check out the Cherry Blossom Festival Rugby Tournament, held by the Washington Rugby Football Club. The Sunday schedule is here, and matches will be held at the JFK Hockey Fields, south of the Reflecting Pool (located on the Independence Avenue side of the National Mall).

>> The Boys Choir of Harlem brings their talented gospel to The Music Center at Strathmore. 3 p.m., $52.
