FRIDAY:
>> All weekend long we’ve got Filmfest DC! Check out the schedule here, and if you haven’t picked up a copy of this week’s City Paper, you really should, because they’ve got some good Filmfest coverage.

>> If you’re feeling crafty, you won’t want to miss the Smithsonian Craft Show this weekend: there are 120 booths exhibiting and selling some of the nation’s finest arts and crafts. Just check out, for example, some of the gorgeous glasswork, or funky jewelry. The show goes on until 8 p.m. tonight at the National Building Museum on 401 F St. NW.

SATURDAY:
>> The Bluestate blogger DJs come back to the Black Cat this evening, with a new Stereolab listening preview and plenty of swag. The event is free in the Black Cat’s backstage. 9:30 p.m.

>> Local favorites Cartel headline at DC9 tonight; DCist reviewed and interviewed the band here. $8.

>> When DCist hit the soft opening of Avenue last weekend, we left somewhat underwhelmed; check out the club yourself tonight at the official grand opening and see what you think. Sign up for the guest list at the web site.

SUNDAY:
>> TasteDC.com hosts a “Taste Your Way Through Georgetown!” event today. For $40, you get a 6-block guided tour that stops at tree designated restaurants who offer up tasting samples. 2-4:30 p.m.; make your reservations here.

>> We ran the Sallie Mae 10K last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, so if you’re looking for something athletic to do this beautiful weekend, head on out. The race starts at 8 a.m., and proceeds go to the D.C. College Access Program. Find registration info here.

>> Cultural Tourism DC presents WalkingTown DC, where you can get free, professionally guided walking tours of all the wonderful neighborhoods the city has to offer. U Street, Embassy Row, Brookland, Congressional Cemetery — it’s all there. Check out the calendar here (the event is taking place on Saturday as well as Sunday).
