When Google unveiled their Google Maps utility, we were immediately a fan. Aside from a few quirks, their “click and drag” interface made surfing online maps a joy. However, one of our first thoughts was that the map would be more useful if it contained the locations of Metro stops. The folks over at MonkeyHomes.com must have read our mind – after churning out a map of the New York Subway using Google’s map data, they produced one for the D.C. system. Although it’s interesting to explore, and contains links to WMATA pages, we were frustrated we couldn’t measure distance (or get directions) to the Metro stations. Although their site can be slow at times, the StationMasters people still have the most comprehensive online guide to the Metro system.
