Did you get caught in the downpours this weekend? Here’s a shot of a bolt of lightning taken from Matthew Bradley‘s Flickr photostream via DCist Photos. (We think this was taken from Fourth Street NE, correct us if we’re wrong.)

What else happened this weekend? A quick roundup:

… Traffic was delayed through Georgetown Saturday afternoon after a traffic officer was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of M Street and Wisconsin Avenue. A DCist source tells us the scene was particularly grizzly, with blood thrown across the intersection … Cops like beer. Police Week festivities in D.C. this weekend flooded areas of Swampoodle and Judiciary Square with cops from across the country for serious and not so serious gatherings. Open-container laws were ignored at party venues. Litter filled the streets with debris … And with the recent military base closure and realignment announcements, it looks like Virginia will be getting more sprawl and traffic. Does that mean a metrorail extension to Fort Belvoir will happen before an extension to Dulles? … And the Wizards fell to the Heat. While the season’s done, it’s the best season in 26 years.

… And it’s filibuster week on Capitol Hill. Prepare for a possible nuclear — or constitutional — strike on Capitol Hill. Do you know how to duck and cover, just in case the brawl in the Senate spills out into the streets?

Here’s what you may have missed on DCist last week …

— Not a Blitzkrieg. Not a nuclear strike. But an AIR RAID nonetheless.
— Crazy Cleveland Park cat antics on Newark Street.
