Pardon our gallows humor … Just as a friendly reminder, there are many people in the world who have an extreme distaste for the government that has its seat of power in our city. Living inside the Beltway, we can often forget this fact. And then there are those television images that force us to remain cognizant of this uncomfortable reality.

Outside the American Embassy on Grosvenor Square in London on Friday, about 300 protesters using “language [that] was offensive and unpleasant in the extreme,” as CNN reports, called for the destruction of Washington via nuclear annihilation. Screaming “Nuke, nuke, Washington! Bomb, bomb the Pentagon!” their hatred of the United States was made quite clear.
