Ahh, it’s been so nice to disconnect from our computers this Memorial Day weekend. We hope you were able to do the same. But the DCist crew was busy this weekend. DCist not only joined Rolling Thunder on our Harley and snapped this photo, we also shared drinks with Jessica Cutler aka Washingtonienne. And then on our way to an East Carolina-style barbecue in Columbia Heights, we bumped into Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld eating at Sake Club in Woodley Park. Rumsfeld and his party were tailed by their “plain-clothes” security detail as they walked into Baskin Robbins. How neighborly? He came across the Taft Bridge for sushi and ice cream!
So what else has happened over the weekend? A mail truck dumped its load onto the Beltway near Greenbelt … Beware, there are rabid raccoons! …
And on DCist, here’s what you may have missed last week …
— Is there a Willy Wonkaesque elevator in Woodley Park?
— Do you monitor your neighborhood listserv?
— Should we all check to make sure there aren’t any events downtown over Columbus Day weekend?
— That chicken looks delicious. (Scott, please make it for us sometime.)
— We introduced the Weekly Feed.
