For those who will be around town this weekend, it’s probably safe to assume that you’ll run into some sort of July Fourth crowd. We used to go down to the Mall, but sitting around for hours to secure a patch of grass in the sun isn’t what we call fun. We’ve mixed up our fireworks-watching spots from year to year and here, we want to start a conversation with our readers as to different spots to watch the fireworks.

First, if you are heading to the Mall or elsewhere around town, be aware that metrorail will be running special service on Monday to accommodate crowds. While the Red Line and Green Line will run normally (except for extra Green Line trains running between Fort Totten and Greenbelt), the Yellow, Orange and Blue lines will see major changes. First, the Blue Line will run as a shuttle between Rosslyn’s upper platform and Huntington, while the Yellow Line will switch its terminus to Franconia-Springfield. And the Orange Line will terminate at both New Carrollton and Largo Town Center, with every other Maryland-bound train alternating terminal stations. There are also special free shuttle buses running from the Mall to the Pentagon and Springfield Mall parking lots.

Now, where are you going to watch the fireworks spectacular? Or are you going to just sulk at home, watch Nick at Nite and speculate as to who might be a potential Supreme Court nominee?

Here are our off-the-Mall picks …
