If you’ve been at work all week lamenting the fact that you’re crunching numbers in a cube instead of rubbing elbows in Bryant Park, fear not: DC Fashion Week is here. We won’t pretend it compares to New York’s Fashion Week, but we can’t argue with its mission.

“DC Fashion Week was created to increase economic development in the area of fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling, and to enhance the visibility of the nation’s capital as a center of international fashion.”

So, get over the fact that you didn’t sit in the front row at the Marc Jacobs show and let go of your dream of seeing Naomi Campbell bitch slap her assistant, and accept the resources right at your feet and see what DC Fashion Week has to offer. Check out the swimwear collections tonight at 7 p.m. at H2O Restaurant & Lounge (800 Water St. SW).

Tomorrow night at 9 p.m. you can see the “ready-to-wear and urban collections” at the Crystal City Doubletree Hotel (300 Army Navy Drive). Following the show, there’s an afterparty at the hotel’s Sky Dome, the D.C.area’s only revolving louge. We assume that after the after party there will be, of course, the hotel lobby.

And on Saturday, the French Embassy (4101 Resevoir Rd. NW) is hosting the “extravagance” couture show at 7 p.m. Admission to tonight’s swimwear show is free, but budget conscious fashion fans should note that tickets to Friday’s event are $20 and general admission to Saturday’s show is $50 – a deal compared to the whopping $150 VIP tickets (apparently being “very important” costs an extra hundred bucks). Call 800-494-8497 for tickets.
