Sports and Entertainment Commission, Major League Baseball, the fragil egos D.C. government, and a red-hot real estate market in Near Southeast? The answer is a convoluted planning process described by the Post in an article today where the architect has conflicting instructions and city leaders can’t seem to agree on things as simple as what material the stadium should be constructed from, or which direction it should face. The mayor’s Development Director Stephen M. Green assured the Post “There are a lot of voices, and there should be.” We just hope they hit their deadlines. Butterstick Has A Check-Up: The National Zoo’s baby panda has grown in girth, length, and weight since his last check-up, clocking in at 9.57 pounds, WTOP reports. You can track his growth on the zoo website.
Mt. Pleasant Shooting Details Emerge: More details about the Saturday shooting of a 34-year-old Mt. Pleasant resident have emerged. Although none of the victim’s belongings were stolen, police told the Post they think the shooting was a botched robbery. The man, Gregory Shipe, was a 34-year-old financial analyst for the Ogilvy Public Relations company. The Post reports that neighbors have planned a candlelight vigil for Shipe starting at 8:45 tonight at the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Library.
