Even Shadow Senator Paul Strauss had a car in the parade. And a classic one, to boot.

Whoops. A little snafu in the DCist newsroom has thus far left us without our daily news roundup. Given that no good day starts without a general overview of the news, we’re turning an omission into an opportunity — we’re going to live-blog today’s roundup. So, stay tuned. Every few minutes or so we’ll have an update.

Update: Let’s see what the Post has to offer this morning. Some minor election in Virginia seems to be tight. Anacostia is developing. The District is considering giving adults raising their grandchildren a monthly stipend.

Update, Part II: Now over to WJLA. Hey, the District’s weekly wage for the first three months of 2005 jumped $52, the eighth largest increase in the nation. Supporters of the National Zoo will get the first public glimpse of Butterstick starting today.

Update, Part III: What’s NBC 4 reporting? Say it ain’t so — Independence Air is filing for bankruptcy? And as more evidence that some criminals should reconsider their chosen profession, a Baltimore man was stopped by police for stealing a 30-foot-long light pole — which he proceeded to store in his station wagon while driving around the city. D’oh!

Update, Part IV: On to WTOP. Some suburbanites are showing concern over the pace of development in Maryland. And in the same state, Governor Robert Ehrlich is trailing his two competitors for the 2006 gubernatorial race.

Update, Part V: And the remainders? Robberies are the only crime that saw an increase in the District in October, says the Examiner. Georgetown University will start granting benefits to same-sex partners, notes the Hoya. Britney and Kevin are in trouble, or so reports the water-cooler talk for the morning.

Well, that seems to be it for the day. Note to self — live-blogging the daily news sucks!
