Snow Possible Later This Week: Just when area meteorologists and government officials are giving eachother a pat on the back for the mostly smooth response to the snow storm earlier this week, weather officials say snow may be likely Thursday and Friday this week, the Post reports. At this point the National Weather Service says there’s a 60 percent chance of snow Friday.
Developers Create ‘Citizens’ Group: The red-hot Washington area real estate market has spawned what some call astroturf: a grassroots citizens organization whose character is controversial. The group, Citizens for a Better Life, was started by Christian J. Lessard, the principal of the Lessard Group, a company who is designing a particularly controversial development in Fairfax county. Lessard told the Post he was simply bringing some much-needed balance to debates about development. Steve Whittaker, a leader in a group opposing the development, thinks otherwise: “We are legitimate local residents. These special interest groups are driven entirely by profit. They’re distorting and subverting the public process.”
