Vincent Orange, fighting Kwame Brown for Gray’s seat, went with a smaller Cadillac SUV than his competitor. What, he couldn’t afford an orange paint job?

The District’s shopping landscape has undergone some alterations over the past few weeks. With the addition of boutique Sosan and a shiny new space for Nana, you have two new reasons to avoid the mall. Even if it still is freezing outside.

Sosan: As much as we love Woodley Park, for a while it has felt like the District’s equivalent of Indiana (the crossroads of America). Now, instead of just appreciating Woodley’s location for its proximity to Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle and Cleveland Park, the neighborhood is becoming a destination.

Much like recent addition (and seemingly always crowded) Open City diner and bar, hip new boutique Sosan (2311 Calvert St. NW) has the potential to add some funk to the neighborhood. Sosan features clothing, accessories and jewelry for male and female label enthusiasts, with items like Prada t-shirts and Diesel jeans for guys, and Betsey Johnson grommeted leather purses and dainty evening bags for the ladies. Sosan also has embellished jeans from Angel and military-style blazers from Unyx. Sosan doesn’t have a Web site yet, but we’re told it’s in the works. Until then, bundle up, curb your antisocial tendencies and check it out in person.

Nana: Over on U Street, boutique Nana has moved on up…specifically four doors down and a flight of stairs away from its previous location. Nana is now in the upstairs of the Millennium space at 1528 U St. NW. Millenium fans, fear not: we’re told the owners of Millenium are slightly changing the store’s concept and only need the downstairs space now.

The new Nana space features high ceilings and a huge front window that gives the store a light, airy feel, while the fireplace adds a homey touch that makes you feel more like you’re browsing through the closet in your friend’s apartment than shopping in a store.

And while the location has changed, Nana still features gift appropriate favorites (hint, hint) like Talla bags and Elizabeth W fragrances. Also, check out the selection of vintage dresses for a guaranteed-to-be-unique holiday party look. Because you really don’t want to waste your night shooting dirty looks at that girl who wearing the same dress as you.
