With six days until their February 15 deadline, the effort to keep Heurich House open to the public continues to gain momentum. From the Heurich House website, here is a run-down of the upcoming events that are being held to raise funds for this great cause.
Friday, February 10, 5:30 – 7:30pm
American University Department of History Hosts Reception
$15/$10 with university, museum, or preservation non-profit ID. Pay at the Door.
The Department of History at AU will host a special Friday night event for area students and professionals interested in touring the New Hampshire Avenue mansion of German brewer Christian Heurich. Graduate students in American University’s Department of History will assist visitors on self-guided tours. Admission includes food, drinks, and live chamber music provided by the AU Department of Performing Arts.

Plan to join the Friends of The Castle for a special Valentine’s evening to help save one of the most important local historic sites in Washington…of all nights to have a heart, this is the one, so make this unique experience part of your special Valentine’s celebration…make checks payable to (or pay at the door) “The Brewmaster’s Castle,” write “Valentine” or draw a heart in the note area, and mail to: Heather Dawn Thompson, 1244 Potomac Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007.

For those of you who are still trying to come up with an activity for Valentine’s eve, “Be a Sweetheart, Save the Castle” is the perfect activity for those who are looking for a memorable evening with their partner, significant other, or date.
