Hi there, Washington. Check out this lovely photo from Flickr user LaTur. It looks like we’re in for more of that kind of sunny weather — today’s going to be clear, windy and cold.

Kaine Aide’s Remarks Draw Republican Ire: William Leighty, Governor Tim Kaine’s Chief of Staff has gotten his boss in trouble with Virginia Republicans after implying that the governor would discriminate against legislation drafted by lawmakers hostile to his transportation agenda. Leighty says that his remarks were made in jest, and that he and the governor have apologized privately to the offended legislators. Republicans, and in particular Va. House Speaker William Howell, seem to be unsatisfied with the apology.

Yellow Line Extension Delayed By Va., Md.: The Post reports that Jim Graham’s efforts to extend the yellow line north of Mount Vernon Square have been temporarily stalled due to suburban committee members’ desire for a potential extension to reach beyond Fort Totten. This objection comes despite the District’s stated willingness to pick up the tab for the extension. But don’t fret! The proposed extension trial program isn’t slated to start until January 2007, and the stalled committee meets again in April.

Second Suspect Charged For Forced Teen Robberies: According to the Post, another man has now been arrested for the recent robberies in which teens were forced to hand notes to bank tellers demanding money. As you may recall, seventeen year-old Jeremiah Hall was arrested last week; now nineteen year-old Sean Philip Wallace has been arrested as well. The suspects have admitted their hand in the plot, and face charges for armed robbery, kidnapping and assault.
