Thanks to our friends over at FreeRide, we’ve learned that Sue Palka, Fox 5’s weathercaster, has some fans. More than just fans, though, she has a fansite. Why? According to the site, “She’s smart, she’s sassy, and (we bet) she can drink you under the table. Does she get the weather right? Who cares? It’s always sunny when Sue’s around!” Maybe. But we’ve always been big fans of Michael Gargiulo and Shawn Yancy.

Williams Demands Apology From Pastor Over Remarks: D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams has threatened to remove Bishop Alfred A. Owens Jr. from his interfaith council if he does not apologize for derogatory comments he made against gay men in a sermon recently, reports the Post. Owens, who presides over the Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church in Northeast, stated in a Palm Sunday sermon, “It takes a real man to confess Jesus as Lord and Savior. I’m not talking about no faggot or no sissy.”

New Sites for Memorials Sought: Some D.C. officials are asking that the government find alternative spaces for the many memorials currently proposed for the National Mall, writes NBC 4. D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton joined in a press conference with the National Capital Planning Commission and Fine Arts Commission, both of which will lead a six-month-long alternate site review for various proposed memorials. Some of the sites to be considered are West Potomac Park, Southwest Washington near the Anacostia River and South Capitol Street and the RFK stadium site.

Concerns Over School Closures Expressed: Though the D.C. Board of Education gave preliminary approval yesterday to Superintendent Clifford Janey’s plan to close six underused school by August, parents, activists, and several board members expressed concern with the plan, notes the Post. Various education activists have asked that the closures be pushed back until August 2007, to allow for more study and community input on the plan.
