After a weekend as gorgeous as the one we had, we could only expect that something would come and sully it up — rain. Our friends at Capital Weather tell us that today might see some humidity and rain, though the rest of the week is set to be beautiful.

Virginia Gays Moving Away: Color us shocked. According to the Post, gay Virginians are fleeing the Old Dominion for more liberal states, fearing the effect of a number of legislative measures that have curtailed their rights in recent years. Many of Virginia’s gay residents are migrating to the District, a historically gay-friendly city.

Barry In Trouble, Again: Another morning shocker — Marion Barry has once again run afoul of the law. The former mayor and current Ward 8 councilmember apparently failed to account for $24,000 in contributions and $11,000 in expenditures during his 2004 campaign for his council seat, notes the Post. Given his criminal tendencies, isn’t it time to start thinking of a curfew for the city’s most infamous resident?

Alexandria Looks to Spruce Up Waterfront: Hoping to further capitalize on the drawing power of waterfronts, city officials and businessmen in Alexandria are looking to improve their waterfront, reports NBC 4. A number of new features are being considered, among them a park, canoe and kayak rentals, a water taxi service, and a maritime museum.

Region’s Marble Players Dominate: Two locals have won the U.S. Marbles Championship, writes WTOP. Robbie Nicholson of Reynoldsville, W. Va., and Molly Kimmell of Frederick, Md. each took the title in their respective marble-shooting contests over the weekend, proving that spare the track-records of some of our local teams, we are in fact good at something. Given recent news in other sports, we anxiously await the results of their doping tests.

Briefly Noted: U.S. Capitol Police officer charged with child sex abuse … FBI internship program claims success … Marriott Wardman Park hotel evacuated for fire … Gaithersburg man charged with murder.

This Day in DCist: On this day last year, we were probably playing outside. Two years ago, though, we talked about (surprise!) crime in the District, expressed some excitement over the just-announced Metro line to Tysons Corner, saw city officials take on the feds over street closures, and reported on a conservative youth conference.
