Share Our Strength Benefit For Katrina Victims
August 29 will mark the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall, but clean-up, rebuilding, and resettling are still taking place. Charity group Share Our Strength will observe the date by holding Restaurants for Relief, an event in which restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds to help recovery efforts and to end childhood hunger along the Gulf Coast.
Almost 90 restaurants in the metro area plan to participate in the charity event, which takes very little participation on your part. All you have to do is dine out on Tuesday, August 29 at a listed restaurant. Pretty simple, huh?
If you want to be involved in other ways, you can also purchase $25 gift certificate from Restaurant.com; 50 percent of the proceeds will support Share Our Strength’s efforts. You can also pledge to support a rider of the District Hogs on his or her ride from D.C. to South Dakota. Maybe you can even join in the ride yourself. If you do, make sure to stop at the Corn Palace!
Rumors Not On The Internets
The Feed has heard a rumor that Le Paradou is sliding towards closing due to its oft-empty dining room? Has anyone else heard such a thing? The last meal I had there was very good, and a recent report said the service was great — especially for wine — and the food was sublime. In fact, DCist saw former Senator Bob Dole there just last week. Would Bob Dole eat at a place that was soon to close? Bob Dole’s not a quitter! Just thought you should know.
