MONDAY

>> DCist Martin just saw Chris Robinson walking down M Street, so if you weren’t lucky enough to snag Black Crowes tickets for last night or tonight’s sold out shows at the 9:30 Club, you could hang out in Georgetown and hope to catch a glimpse.

>> “Old Blind Dogs at the Institute of Musical Traditions” was just bulky enough to grab our attention through the mass of concert listings. Some further digging revealed that Silver Spring’s Institute of Musical Traditions is “dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional music and folk arts in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area through its Monday night concert series and special events.” The Internet prevailed on “Old Blind Dogs” too. They’re a folk outfit, and “one of the original cutting edge outfits in Scotland’s continuing new roots revival!” 7:30 p.m., $20

>> Frampton comes alive tonight at the Birchmere. Insert Wayne’s World joke here. 7:30 p.m., sold out

>> Damn, who knew Montgomery College’s Robert E Parilla Performing Arts Center was so smooth? Smokey Robinson comes to Rockville tonight, though it’ll set you back $75. If you’re a senior or a student though — you can rest easy. It’s only $73. 8 p.m.

TUESDAY

>> This summer, DCist Genevieve described Catfish Haven as “Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Boss put through the indie rock meat grinder. Hunter sings a ballad like he means it, with a croon channeled from the ghosts of classic rock past. It’s Americana without any ironic posturing.” For a soulful evening that’ll shake you down and back up again, head to the Black Cat. With Magnolia Electric Co. and Shearwater. $12, 8:30 p.m.

>> Politically-driven hard core punk legends the Dead Kennedys are back. After their controversy-laden breakup, they’re touring again with a new vocalist, and coming to a State Theatre near you. $17, 7 p.m.

>> On the completely opposite end of the from-the-eighties spectrum, Foreigner comes to the Birchmere. Note: Originally slated for 9/20, this show has been moved up one day to Tuesday, 9/19. If you’re hot blooded, get to Alexandria by 7:30. Sold out.
