Good morning, Washington. Hopefully you’re getting the day off, especially because it
seems Monday will be just as
beautiful weather-wise as Sunday was. Did you spend your weekend in a productive
manner? Running the Army
10-Miler, perhaps? I spent it playing flag football and drunk, so I’m going to go with
“non-productive.” But still nice. I mean, at least we didn’t spend it at George Allen’s fundraising hoedown. Lord.
It’s a Day That Ends in Y, Must be Time for More Allen Scandals: The AP reports
that in addition to throwing around racial slurs, allegedly being a racist, denying his
Jewish heritage, and whoever knows what the hell else, now it’s come out that George Allen
failed to disclose certain stock options to
Congress. From a technology company called Xybernaut. What do you expect? I mean, it’s
not as if he also asked the Army to use Xybernaut for a particular issue. Oh. He did?
Well. At least he’s not molesting teenagers through the internet. YET.
Pedestrian Deaths on the Rise: The Washington Times reports that the pedestrian deaths this
year in D.C. have already equaled the total of last year (it’s 16 total, for those
keeping count). Officials are calling for safety and speeding crackdowns, particularly in
Northeast and Southeast, where the majority of the deaths occured. Additionally, eight
of the 16 pedestrians killed “were at fault,” according to the police department.
Gallaudet Students Continue Protest: Opposing the appointment of Jane Fernandes to
president of the universty, Gallaudet students continued to stay in the Hall Memorial Building, demanding that the university
reopen its search.
And you know what? That’s it. It’s a beautiful holiday Monday. We could not find anything
else. Get outside and enjoy it.
