Gallaudet Faculty Votes No Confidence In Jordan: NBC4 reports on the latest from Gallaudet. It appears that the weekend’s arrests have shaken the faculty’s faith in university president I. King Jordan: in a high-turnout meeting, the faculty passed resolutions expressing no confidence in both Jordan and the Board of Trustees. Eighty-two percent voted for incoming president Jane Fernandes’ resignation or removal. WRC-TV also reports that the administration has begun pushing for the reopening of more entrances to the university — so far without success.
Va. Same-Sex Marriage Ban Looks Likely To Pass: The news from the Post’s latest round of polling continues to trickle out. Today’s coverage focuses on the prospects for the proposed revision to Virginia’s bill of rights that would prevent marriage benefits from being extended to same-sex couples: the latest numbers indicate that 53% of likely voters favor the measure, while 43% oppose it. The Post puts a weirdly upbeat spin on the news, emphasizing that the numbers converge when respondents are read arguments for both sides, and noting that the levels of support are relatively low for an ostensibly convervative state. Still: 53, 43. Seems pretty straightforward to us.
