Even Shadow Senator Paul Strauss had a car in the parade. And a classic one, to boot.

It’s a drizzly Thursday morning out there, D.C., and it seems like every … single … local news headline … we’ve run across has to do with this Tuesday’s election. Rest assured, we’ll have DCist’s own election guide for you later this afternoon, but we’ll also have plenty of our regular music, food and other odd goodies. Because lord knows we could all stand a break from the Midterm Midtacular (hat tip to The Daily Show for that brilliant bit of alliteration) currently ruling our lives. Although this WUSA headline about the Webb/Allen race is just awfully entertaining in the most juvenile way possible. Yes, we’re children sometimes. We recognize that. Without further ado, here’s a few news nuggets, pre-chewed, as always, for easier digestion.

What Was That Ad About Again?: Michael J. Fox is in the metro area this morning, getting ready for a 2:30 p.m. appearance on behalf of Ben Cardin at a Chevy Chase hotel. Which hotel? WJLA doesn’t say, but we figure we can just follow the rancid smell hypocrisy that always follows Rush Limbaugh around when he shows up to protest that Fox wouldn’t be appearing in public at all if he was really sick.

Fenty Gives Clues About Schools Plan: Soon-to-be Mayor Adrian Fenty has started hinting to the press about the details of his plan for D.C.’s troubled school system, and the Post has the details. Looks like he will indeed take a page from New York’s Michael Bloomberg and takeover direct control of the city’s public schools, which in his model would involve giving more autonomy to high performing schools and completely restructuring failing ones. Some parents are expressing concern about the potential upheaval for their children, but it’s hard to see how anyone could be surprised that this is what Fenty plans to do — he’s certainly made no secret of his intention to shake things up during his campaign.

This Day in DCist: In 2005 we wouldn’t let a shortage of bowling options stand, and in 2004 it was Election Day and we were, frankly, a little obsessed.
