What’s better than happy hour? Maps with lots of happy hours. Thanks to Google Maps, there are a few drunken mashup sites that map bar specials in D.C. for that special time of day. The two we’ve found, Unthirsty.com and Drinktown.com show user-submitted happy hours around the country and detail the food and drink specials each day. Unthirsty even says if there’s patio seating or wi-fi, in case you want to do some tipsy instant messaging.

Unfortunately neither site seems to have every happy hour in D.C., and neither overlap very much so it’s worth checking out both. Unthirsty has a nicer design and is faster, while Drinktown is searchable by day and includes Metro lines (but not stations). And both have the convenience of showing you what’s nearby, in case one place is packed. The Post does something similar, but with more clicks and no maps.

Anyone can submit a happy hour to either, which could be problematic, but the administrators seem to be on top of things – someone on Unthirsty put a happy hour located at “work,” which was the State Department, we flagged it, and it was gone minutes later. Then again, maybe those foreign service types have some kind of killer bar with beer from all over the world.

And speaking of beer from all over the world, another beer-soaked Google mashup is Beermapping.com, which doesn’t have happy hours, but does have beer bars, stores, and brewpubs, with web links and reviews. Hooray for the internet, always creating new ways to show people where to drink cheaply.
