And a good Friday to you, Washington. It’s just about the weekend, a great time to continue that celebrating or mourning that you’ve had going on for the last few days, depending on what side of the political aisle you’re on. Today will be a sunny day, with highs around 70. The temperature is slated to hit the same mark on Saturday, only it will be a partly cloudy day. Sunday will see highs in the 50s, with lots of wind. Ah, sounds like District weekend weather: all over the spectrum.
Carjackers Still on the Loose: Just when you thought it was safe to exit your car, think again! NBC4 reports on a string of carjackings have police in PG County on alert, with the latest one in Hyattsville, during which the assailants stuff the car owners/riders in the trunk. Word of advice: accidentally break your trunk latch, like I did. Works every time.
VA Tree Thieves Take a Lace Leaf Japanese Maple Tree: The Post has a story about tree thieves are on the loose. Okay, not really on the loose, but around the area. Peter Jones spent 25 years cultivating the now stolen tree, which was planted near the Walter Reed Recreation Center in South Arlington. The yellow tape has been rolled out, and the large hole is now considered a crime scene.

This Day in DCist: In 2004 we introduced our Ask DCist feature, and in 2005, we talked about Rep. Pombo trying to sell off federal land in the District to…the District.
