Are you ready to rock?: Metro is considering a plan to formally allow artists to perform outside subway stations beginning next year. The program would prohibit panhandling and provide for an audition system a la New York City’s subway arts scheme. Performers, paid by groups like the D.C. Commission on Arts and Humanities, would only be sanctioned to work between April and October and paid around $125 for a 2.5 hour period. Sounds a bit complicated, but it’s about time the hard-working folks who make commutes more colorful get some recognition.
