Welcome to Tuesday, D.C. You’ve got a couple hours to enjoy the warm, sunny weather that we’ve become accustomed to in the last few days. This afternoon a series of rain storms will roll into town and stick around for the rest of the work week. Joy. Today is our last day in the 80s for a while too. Mid 60s and low 70s are on tap for the foreseeable future. So grab an umbrella and enjoy the week.
Commute Could Be So Much Worse: A group protesting the influx of Mexican truck operators in the United States is telling truck drivers in Washington to create slowdowns on the Beltway. The California-based group wants trucks to form a convoy, taking up all lanes, and drive 55 mph in a circle around the I-495. They say it will raise awareness of their cause. It remains to be seen if area truckers will join the protest, but police say there’s little they can do about if drivers stay at 55 mph, but if state troopers find they’re purposely driving 10 mph below the speed limit, heavy fines could be levied. No word from protest organizers on why they think screwing up residents’ commutes will make them sympathetic to truckers’ concerns.
