>> D.C. looks to be trapped in the middle of a presidential endorsement face-off, with Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine already firmly in the Sen. Barack Obama camp (the first governor to endorse the candidate), and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley declaring his support for Sen. Hillary Clinton. Will D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty step into the fray with an endorsement of his own?
>> Police have arrested a 12-year-old boy in connection to the “pins in the cafeteria food” tampering case in Fairfax County’s Rachel Carson Middle School. But the food tampering continues, despite his removal from the school: it seems someone put a broken paper clip inside a chicken nugget. Copycat food tampering crimes. Boy, do we not miss middle school. [WTOP and AP]
>> Some Tenleytown residents were apparently concerned about a new liquor license for the Whole Foods located near Woodrow Wilson High School, but not concerned enough to file a formal protest. The store should be able to start selling beer and wine as early as next week. [Free Ride]
>> An extra pick for tonight: In the third program featuring musicians from the Marlboro Festival, there will be a free concert tonight at the Freer Gallery of Art (Jefferson Dr. and 12th St. SW). Younger performers join with one of the veteran violinists from the Guarneri Quartet for a program that includes a Mozart piano trio, a Dvořák piano quartet, and Shostakovich’s eighth string quartet. You can ask for a ticket at the museum’s Meyer Auditorium, starting one hour before the concert. Free, 7:30 p.m.
