>> The Millennium Stage Conservatory Project concludes this weekend at the Kennedy Center. Promising young musicians from the nation’s best conservatories will be giving free concerts in the Terrace Theater: Eastman School of Music (tonight), Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University (Saturday), and Shepherd School of Music, Rice University (Sunday). All concerts begin at 6 p.m. and can also be experienced by live simulcast through the Millennium Stage Web site.

>> Garrison Keillor brings A Prairie Home Companion to Wolf Trap tonight, to delight grandmothers and young fans of old-timey deadpan humor alike. Tickets are $18-$75.

SATURDAY:

>> Beauty Pill and Georgie James are joined by Brooklyn’s the Epochs to play a benefit for One DC and Books for America. At St. Stephen’s Church (1525 Newton St. NW), $8. This all-ages show begins at 7 p.m.

>> If you missed out on the incredibly awesome Dismemberment Plan reunion last month, head over to Black Cat’s BLISS dance party, where DJ Will Eastman and guest DJ Travis Morrison will blow your minds for a mere $6 in the backstage 9 p.m.

SUNDAY:

>> Acoustic folksters Mice Parade, Tom Brosseau, and David Karsten Daniels will try to keep you cool on a hot weekend with their lolling melodies and soothing voices. Wear seersucker, order lemonade, and bring a rocking chair. Rock and Roll Hotel; Doors 8 p.m., show starts at 9 p.m. $10.

>> DJ Dredd presents one of his excellent VS. holiday weekend dance parites with a Prince vs. Michael Jackson night on the Black Cat‘s mainstage, plus a multimedia visual show by Optical Grooves. $10, 9 p.m.

MONDAY:

>> Teen Vogue Editor Kara Jesella and Marisa Meltzer have written a book called How Sassy Changed My Life: A Love Letter To The Greatest Teen Magazine Of All Time. If you’re a woman who grew up in the early 1990s, you really don’t need me to explain. The writers will be at Black Cat’s backstage for a free reading at 9 p.m., along with a DJ set by the First Ladies Collective.
