DCist Interview: The Greyhound Diaries’ Doug Levitt
The son of a former D.C. councilmember comes in off of the road tomorrow at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage for a performance of The Greyhound Diaries, the songs, pictures and stories that emerged from a 70,000-mile bus odyssey around the country.

Tonight: Cubra Libre now has a happy hour (and it starts tonight), Whitlow’s celebrates the opening of its rooftop bar, Artisphere shows a film about 8 D.C. bands, The Who’s rock opera plays at AFI Silver theater, live talk show “You, Me, Them, Everybody” records at The Looking Glass Lounge, and contemporary dance company Karen Reedy Dance comes to the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. Also, later this week, Charlie Sheen is in town and Eatonville hosts a Craft Beer dinner.

In today’s music scene, it is relatively rare to come across a true jazz composer. Sure, lots of jazz musicians write music, but those compositions are mainly vehicles for music’s improvisational elements. Darcy James Argue is a notable exception and he, along with his band — dubbed Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society — is generating an undeniable buzz in the jazz world.

K’Naan @ The Millennium Stage
The buzz surrounding Friday’s Millennium Stage performance was palpable, with the line forming hours ahead of time for a free concert that was part of the Kennedy Center’s outstanding Arabesque festival.
