More grist for the mill of discontent among some Adams Morgan residents over the state of 18th Street, right on the heels of D.C. Council action that could limit the number of tavern licenses in the neighborhood. The Washington Business Journal reports that an unholy trifecta of daiquiris, skin and chicken wings is moving in to the space formerly occupied by the controversial after hours spot, Santa Rosa.

The new bar, to be named Splash, is described by its owner, Derrick Brown, as a cross between Fat Tuesday and Hooters. It will serve daiquiris in 10 different flavors, plus standard bar food fare like chicken wings, burgers, cheese fries and shrimp baskets. There will be six tables downstairs, and upstairs will feature an “adult”-themed room with waterbeds and mirrors on the walls. Amazingly, it seems the Kalorama Citizens Association does not plan to protest the liquor license, since most neighbors are content to have anything in the space besides Santa Rosa, which was a constant cause of complaints due to late night parties and trash.

If you’re looking to be slightly skeezed out, be sure to check out the Splash web site, which features a contest in which you can vote for the women you think are the hottest who have applied for jobs at Splash. Winners will be offered positions as “Splash Girls” and given a $1000 signing bonus.

Stay classy, Adams Morgan.
