>> Black Cat, Black Cat: Canadians Shapes and Sizes are the newest artists on Sufjan Steven’s Asthmatic Kitty label, and they will offer up melodic pop at the Black Cat‘s backstage with Brooklyn’s Yeasayer at 9 p.m. for $10. Upstairs it’s iconic Czech freedom fighters Plastic People of the Universe, whose last show at the venue brought out Vaclav Havel himself. With Macitajs on Acid, $15.

>> Dr. Dremo’s hosts another Washington Psychotronic Film Society screening of note, Ari Alexander Ergis Magnusson’s Screaming Masterpiece, an appropriately odd ode to the Icelandic music scene featuring Björk, Sigur Rós and many more. 8 p.m. showtime, $2 suggested donation.
