Good morning, Washington. Feeling alright? We just thought we’d ask — there are two heart-trouble-related stories in the news today, and it’s gotten us a little superstitious. First, Senator John Warner is in the hospital undergoing procedures to correct an atrial fibrillation that manifested itself yesterday morning (it sounds like he’ll be fine). Second, Etan Thomas missed the first day of Wizards training camp due to a newly-detected cardiac irregularity. There’s no word yet on what that means for his health or his season.

City Council Passes Hospital Plan: It looks like Greater Southeast Hospital has been saved. The D.C. Council has approved Mayor Fenty’s deal with Specialty Hospitals of America, the firm that will be buying the troubled facility. The arrangement includes $79 million in grants and loans from the city.

Prince William County Delays Immigration Crackdown: According to the Post, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors has elected to delay a vote on the county’s proposed anti-illegal immigration measures, citing a need to study how the policy will affect the county’s budget in the face of falling revenues and an $14.2 million enforcement cost. The initiative would prevent illegal aliens from receiving nearly all county services, and would require police to check the immigration status of suspects on a much more frequent basis.

Briefly Noted: Adams Morgan fire started with electrical problem near cockloft (yes, cockloft)… Police investigating two deaths in same NW apartment, separated by just a week… Convicted sniper calls, apologizes to daughter of victim… Punching mom’s dog gets man month in jail… Seriously: a maglev train to Baltimore when we can’t even afford a tunnel at Tyson’s?

This Day In DCist: One year ago D.C.’s adoptive eagle passed away and we went to Baltimore to see the Hold Steady. Two year ago the Redskins were 3-0 and folks were shocked — shocked! — that traffic at a Nissan Pavillion concert was awful.
